day 16 & weekend away

September 22, 2015 Leave a comment

Hello!

I’ve been so busy this weekend I haven’t had any time to write! I went up to near Manchester on Saturday morning for 1 night with my sister and mum, as my poor gran fell and broke her hip. She is recovering now, but we thought we should go see her.

We stayed for one night at the Best Western Plus Manor house hotel. It was lovely! we got a twin room (well they split the bed into a twin) and I got a roll away bed, which wasn’t tooooo bad – but I did wake up every time I had to turn over – squeak squeak!!

My sister and I had flipped for who would get the crappy bed, but I had already decided I would have it since she drove 5 hours each way lol!!

SOooooo, food you ask. What did I have and how did I do?

Well, I did very well thank you very much. As best as could be expected and maybe a little better.

On the way up I had a cup of black coffee, a banana apple and some nuts. When we got to hotel we decided to have lunch. I had a portion of seasonal veg with no butter(broccoli, cauli, potatoes, carrots) and a portion of hand cut chips. Yes, they were cooked in rapeseed oil…..not anything else I could have eaten.

Dinner at the hotel included a 5 course set menu. I had melon with berries to start (defo sugar in the berries), tomato and basil soup (it had no dairy apparently,  but did taste sugary, so more added sugar) then I had pork fillet but had to forgo the brandy sauce (sob) and vegetables, again with no butter. I couldn’t have the roll with the soup, or any dessert.

Ah dessert. They wheeled around a trolley full of friggin delicious desserts, but I’d come this far, I hadn’t had any wine (gagging!) so I chose a bakewell tart to take back to the room for my mum. (she is very fussy with food and didn’t want any dinner) then I had a black coffee. I did sooooo well, considering!!!

The next day, I got plenty of breakfast (the croissants, pain au chocolat, toast and muffins all screamed at me ‘take me take me we’re free’) so I had fried eggs, sauté potatoes, bacon and sausage. Hmm actually I just realised there was probably wheat in the sausage – damn.

On the way home I had a black coffee and an apple and banana.

Now today, I couldn’t resist and I weighed myself. I’ve been feeling so good and so less bloated and my stomach, although not flat, is no way the bloated fat cow I used to be.

I WISH I HADNT!!!  Although I have lost a few pounds, it am nowhere near where I felt like I was. It was really disappointing, and basically I have only lost the extra pounds I put on after my sisters wedding a month ago. So as bloody usual – back to SQUARE 1!!

SO – don’t weigh yourself is the moral of this story.

I do have a dilemma coming up. I’m going to my friends wedding on Saturday. Its all day. I want to drink,

I’m not sure what the food is, I am sure I can be good, apart from any added sugar or wheat in the meal – I can avoid actual wheat and dairy etc. And cake. But I don’t think I can not drink. Is that awful lol?? I don’t want to get plastered obviously as I want to continue on Sunday and not be so hung over that I eat a pizza.

Does anyone have any tips or advice for me??

thanks, blog soon

friday!

September 20, 2013 Leave a comment

Good morning! It’s Friday yipee!!!!

So, two posts in two days! wow. Ok I said I would tell you my weight today.

Haven’t weighed myself for a good 2-3 weeks, and have put on 4lbs in the last month. Booo. This might be normal I guess. Overall I have gained 20lbs so far, AAAAAARRRGGHHHH.

OK, so my weight today is, incidentally, the same as when I started the Dukan journey, oh about 2  years ago. Ironic? I weigh 12 stone 6 lbs……. arrgh.  Vile 😦

But I am preggers so at least I have a reason for it!

My weight was 12.2 for ages and I thought I’d stabilised my weight for a while, but I did read that the baby really starts to gain weight and get bigger in the next few weeks,

That is still no excuse for my ‘eat whatever I want’ though.

Last night I made a chilli (sans the rice) with kidney beans and garlic bread. Today I have left over chilli for lunch and I ate a cinnamon swirl for breakfast. Oopsie.

They were on sale and I just couldn’t help myself!

So there you have it, I am a wheat addicted eejit! We did decide yesterday that we need to get back into eating more veg. I hate buying it and then throwing it away though. I suggested to have an early Sunday dinner at lunch time and then for dinner we should cook whatever we have left in the fridge that is going off soon. Yesterday I had to throw away a cauliflower, a cucumber and dammit some chicken thighs that I didn’t realize had a short use by date. I put everything in the fridge left to right by use by date. That won’t last long haha!!

Anyway, that’s all I have to say for today. I will catch up on your blogs this weekend, I’ve had trouble looking at the blogger ones on my work pc and commenting.

Have a great weekend everyone!! x 🙂

Morning!

The kitchen is FINally in! Yay!
It looks great! All we need now is a new floor, paint the walls and tile a bit, and there were three drawers missing which we will pick up at the weekend.
I got home yesterday and the carpenter had finally finished, so we spent hours cleaning everything and putting things away.
We both had massive smiles on our faces!
So, tonight I will give the fridge a good clean and finish arranging where things will go.

I made dinner (for once!) bacon and pepper(capsicum) frittata/omelette with cucumber and salad. Mmm it was good to have some real food. I won’t mention that I had a glass of coke with it…..

Today we are getting a McDonalds for lunch at work – and this really has to be my last bad meal. I planned for it, so I knew I was going to have it so I don’t feel too bad.
I have put on weight and I’m sure it’s not all baby.
As from tonight (after bad lunch) no more:
– No fizzy drinks
– No sugar
– No bread
– No treats….
Basically stop eating rubbish all the time. I will allow myself rice and potato once a week or something, and I’ll see how I get on.
My body is begging me for vegetables and nutrients so I am finally happy to oblige.
It is so hard to get out of a rut once you stop eating healthy – my biggest challenge was that we did not have a kitchen – but now NO MORE EXCUSES!!
And I am happy about that.

I went shopping on Saturday and bought a few ‘fat’ clothes. Kinda maternity clothes too I guess, like leggings and long tops. I did not like the look of my body from behind, my back is fat and my arms are gross. If I mention to anyone that I am fat, they say ‘you’re pregnant’. I just cannot agree – it is so not an excuse to become obese, and I know it’s not all baby – I have been greedy and lazy.

So I am hoping that this turn around will help me stabilise or even lose a little weight I don’t need. I also need to walk a LOT more as I am knackered just walking up the stairs. I need to strengthen my body a bit – otherwise I don’t know how I will get through labour.

Well, those are my moans, goals and aspirations!
Have a great day everyone!
🙂

Good morning! I’ve been meaning to write for a few days and then don’t get round to it!

How is everyone? Well I hope.

I started keeping a food diary, and did very well for like a day. Not doing so well after that. Hmmm.
I am disappointing myself and the baby.

Update on the kitchen situation: We had the kitchen plastered last week, James has painted most of it a white coat to sink into the plaster and our kitchen is sitting there waiting to be installed.
It is being done this week and I am very excited!!!

I will be cooking very healthy once it’s all in. At the moment we don’t even have a sink, so trying to wash up in the bathroom sink is not easy. Only another week of hell and then all should be ok!

We havent been food shopping for over a week and don’t have much in, so had rice krispies for breakfast and then brought them with me for lunch too. I know it’s not the best – but I have to eat something!

Some good news: I had my scan on Thursday – the baby is doing very well and we found out the sex of the baby!!
It’s a ……………………BOY!!

Yipeee!! We are both very excited and can finally get some things together!

Once the kitchen is complete we can get the bedrooms ready for plastering, then it’s just a bit of decorating and carpets! Voila.

Well, I may have to go food shopping tonight and get some stuff, like eggs etc. The oven is still connected so I can still cook, its just a bit difficult.

G’morning

Hello, good morning!

I didn’t realize I hadn’t written for so long. I have definately got baby brain at the moment.

I am feeling pretty good lately, no longer feeling nauseous all day, though I have started getting heartburn at night or when I eat certain things. I think this is probably due to my crappy diet. I eat ‘normal’ (if that’s what you can call it)

I’ve been having cereal for breakfast, a few rolls for lunch, and then whatever for dinner. Last night I was too tired so made tuna mayo rolls.

I’ve mentioned to James that we really need to start eating right again and he agrees. Tonight I may make a chilli, we have some mince etc. But I can already sense that I will put kidney beans in it and have rice too. Is that really so bad?

Thursday is our shopping day and we normally shop at Tesco. Lately, I have had it up to ‘here’ (hand above head) with them, every time we go there and purchase something on offer, they don’t give us the offer and I have to go and get a refund.

So I am no longer shopping there because I hate them.

Yup I am probably over reacting lol, but they piss me off so much! I have written them a stinking complaint letter asking for a generous goodwill gesture and an apology – we’ll see what I get back from them.

So, we went to Asda last week and it was ok. We weren’t big fans of that store before, but it seemed fine.

My weight is still rising – which I guess is to be expected in pregnancy. But I really do not want to gain extra  weight or unneccessary weight.

I must try harder. I know that.

Last night on telly, they had a program on Channel 4 about diabetes and diets. A group of women went to this ‘clinic’ and had to do a 55 day diet to try to reverse their type 2 diabetes. Half the group were on a 1600 kcal diet, made up of 40 % carbs, 30 % protein and 30 % fat. I couldn’t believe the high carb percentage and was shouting at the tv and shaking my  head! The other half were put on a liquid diet of shakes n soups.

After 2 months ( I think they spent maybe a week in the clinic together) they all came back and two of them had reversed their diabetes and all had lost at least 1 stone. Its pretty impressive (even with the bad advice lol) and just shows how important diet is to your health.

They said diabetes is going to be the biggest thing in the next decade and will be the cost of half of our NHS budget here in the UK.

So, I need someone to kick me up the butt and get me back in gear to eating well.

I am now 19 weeks and 2 days pregnant, and am waiting for my letter from the hospital about my 20 week scan. Hmmm – it’s getting a little close. I have rung them twice to chase it up in the last two weeks – they said they are having technical difficulties. It’s very frustrating as I want to have my scan to check everythings still going ok and I cannot wait to find out the gender!!

Plus – I need some notice so I can book the time off from work, and James needs to book it off too.

I will call them again today.

Anyway, that’s my moans for now! Have a great day and give me some advice to start eating healthy again!!

Good Morning!

How is everyone doing?

This week I have been trying to eat less wheat, so have rice crackers for lunch with hummus and cream cheese, carrot sticks, oat crisp cereal for breakfast.

Dinners haven’t been as great due to the refurb going on in the kitchen. I can only cook stuff that goes straight in the oven, which means pizza, garlic bread or jacket potatoes etc.

Last night we had jackets with tuna. Yumsy.

I did eat some coco pops this morning and I feel a bit crappy. Maybe I was gonna feel rubbish anyway.

I have put on a couple of pounds – and I’ve not weighed in at all this week. Big mistake for me!! Not looking forward to seeing the number on the scales.

So far this week we have had our bedroom windows replaced and the front room bay window. We did have lovely sash windows but it was so cold in winter so we needed double glazing.

The garden now

I was trying to take a picture of the fox in the garden but my phone wouldn’t zoom.  You can just about see if in between the two trees.

So, there you have it. The house is coming along, still a lot to do but we have a week off soon so we (well James) can get cracking!!!

Exam on Thursday, I’ve been studying hard for weeks but I still don’t know it all. Final exam next Tuesday and then I am free for the summer. Cannot wait!

Have a great day everyone! 🙂

Surprise!

Good morning! How are you all?

So, I did say last week I would explain what has been going on in my life and why I haven’t blogged very often.

Well, I have some exciting news. I am expecting a baby!!

There you go! Now you understand.

I’ve felt so sick for over 2 months and have not been able to eat anything healthy – and I know I should have forced myself as it’s a crucial time- but ugh. The thought of eating a vegetable or an egg made me want to be sick!

So, I survived on rice krispies, bananas, sweets, bagels,  potatoes and peas (eventually a few weeks ago). I craved fast food for a couple of weeks, but only caved a couple of times.

My weight: I have put on 3-4 lbs, which isn’t loads, but I do not want to gain masses of weight. I joined a low carb group online, but am struggling to eat non carb foods. I’ve been enjoying a little fruit, some blueberries, peaches etc but have barely had any vegetables or salad.

I am starting to feel a whole lot better now, and had my first scan yesterday so am feeling over the moon that everything is ok!!!

Oh and yes, the wedding is going to be cancelled.  The baby is due 24th December. The wedding was booked for the 7th December, so don’t really want to be getting married when I am that heavily pregnant!

Hopefully we can do it next December instead. We won’t have much money but it will just have to be a simple affair.

So there you are. Finally I can tell you all!! It’s been hard to not just blurt it out!!

If you have any advice, tips or anything you want to tell me, please feel free!!

🙂 🙂

g’day!

Good morning!

I have been away from blog writing land for a while as you may have noticed.

I will come back next week properly. It’s been quite nice to have a break from blogging, but I have also missed it.

One thing I can confirm, is when you don’t write down what you eat – or worry about disappointing people who read your blog  and so DONT want to write, you really stop accounting for what you eat!

Dukan has been out of the window a little (ok a lot!) and I’ve struggled to do low carb.  Eating carbs has made me a bit ill – but then feeling ill makes we want to comfort eat – Catch 22. (or catch laziness in my case)

I will cut down my carbs soon, one day at a time.

My allergies have been really bad the last few weeks and I probably had a couple of colds in between too. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between the two – any of you fellow sufferers know this!

I had a few days off work last week as I felt pretty awful, and then I had Monday off as it was my birthday! Yay!

Now I am 32 (gulp). My brother has turned 33 today – we are the same age for 3 days every year and we had a pact that we wouldn’t beat each other up on those days haha!! Sibling love ….. My sister took me out for breakfast which was nice and then I basically just spent the day round her house with the kids sitting in the garden. James was going to take me out for dinner but my hayfever was so bad that evening all I wanted to do was go to bed. (misery guts haha!!) …

So we are going out for dinner on Friday instead, it will be more enjoyable as it’s the beginning of the weekend.

Apart from that, we are getting the whole house done up! We decided to extend our loan and just get it over with. It won’t cost us much more a month so it’s easily affordable and I cannot wait to have a new kitchen!

We’ve had a couple of doors installed, one in the kitchen and one in the hallway (the old ones were ripped out last winter) and our new windows will be installed in a few weeks time.  James has also installed a new boiler (he’s a plumber – so handy!!! 🙂 ) so once we’ve done some of the kitchen he’ll disconnect the old one and connect the new one.  This winter is going to be so cosy yipeeee!! I feel lucky that we can do this, as we’ve been there 2.5 years and still haven’t done a quarter of the house, we just made it livable.

I doubt we will go on any holidays this year as we will be so busy with the house, but we can always go visit my parents in France for a break.

Well, it’s good to blog again. I’ll tell you my weight on Monday – its not that bad!

Speak to you soon 🙂

Hello how is everyone doing today?

My colleague has a weeks holiday so I don’t have  a lot of time to blog this week.

Over the weekend, I went to my nephews birthday party. I did eat a cupcake. Woops. We also took him for breakfast, but the place we wanted to go was shut for some reason and we didnt want to spend a fortune, so ended up taking him to Mcdonalds (silly us) and buying him a moshie monster magazine.

It was quite warm over the weekend, which was nice. We have also inherited a fish tank and some fish. My friend was sick of it and the upkeep so gave it to us for free. When we picked it up one of her kids was crying her eyes out – poor thing. ‘But she doesnt know any of their names’ she sobbed. Bless.

Fishes

Cool eh? It’s called a Fruval edge tank.

When shopping for my nephews birthday present  last week in Smyths toy shop, I came across this and remembered I always wanted one HAHA.

Thanet-20130426-00663

If it hadnt been so expensive I may have even bought it. 😉

I got Zach, my nephew, a 3DS game called err what was it called? Some undercover chase thing. He went crazy when he saw it bless him as it was exactly what he wanted.

Not much news today, see you all tomorrow! 🙂

P.S This morning I had a dukan pancake cooked in butter with some strawberries. It was SOOOO delicious………….kinda low carb, kinda dukan.
