full fat!

Good afternoon,

How is everyone today?
Day three of healthy eating – it’s still¬†going well! Although it is Friday, a bank holiday weekend and then I have the rest of the week off. At least I can’t¬†drink and then stuff my face after lol! Yesterdays food ended up being: B: 2 scrambled eggs cooked in butter with cheese S: Tangerine L: Leftover beef brisket, broccoli & carrot, and then greek yoghurt and blueberries S: grapes and cucumber and raisins D: Gammon, avocado¬†and potato salad with carrots and more broccoli. So a pretty good day. I am loving avocado at the moment. Mmmmm. I felt like ‘something else’ for about an hour last night, but then forgot about it and then didn’t¬†want anything. Phew! This morning I gave a guy at work a lift in to work and he gave me two packets of maltesers. Bless. I will have to give them away! I have not had any fizzy drinks either. Strangely I have been mega thirsty – so I spend most of my day in the toilet lol. All I’ve had is water or squash when I get home. I have bought squash that doesn’t¬†have aspartame in it, but it did have other sweeteners, I can’t remember what they were though. Ugh, sooo¬†busy at work right now! Some people are doing flexi¬†hours and working til 6 (normal hours 8-5) and my colleague is off today so I am doing 8-6. I will get paid an hours overtime but humph! ūüė¶ lol grumpy face I am so full right now. I am loving a greek yoghurt I found in Asda¬†(supermarket in UK) its sooo¬†good! Dover-20130823-00753 And this is my new lunch box! Cute eh? I’ve eaten most of it as you can see though haha!! Dover-20130823-00752 My ankles are getting puffy – did I mention this yesterday? ūüė¶ Doing some ankle exercises right now! My scales said I’d gained a lb when I weighed myself this morning, but Im¬†sure it will come off. I am definately¬†not on a diet – just eating healthy and lots of fats for the baby! I should naturally lose a little weight, but if I just stay this weight for the rest of my pregnancy I would be ok with that. Tomorrow I am going to Pregnancy Yoga in Broadstairs¬†with my 2 sisters who are also pregnant. Then we are going somewhere for lunch. I think this may be a hard meal to choose what to have. We havent decided where we are going yet so I can google the menu yet lol, but I will just have to choose the best I can. Maybe a salad. Soooo, have a great weekend, hope you are all doing well. I have not been able to comment on many blogs as my computer is saying ‘no’. Stupid work PC is always changing things…… Have a good one! ūüôā

food wagon

Good morning!
You will be pleased to hear that I have finally kicked myself up the bum and am eating healthy again!
It’s only been two days and I have lost 2 pounds.
Yesterdays menu was:
B: 2 scrambled eggs cooked in butter with cheese on top
S: raisins
L: 2 southern fried baked chicken breasts (prob a bit of wheat in the coating) with salad
S:raisins and almonds
D:beef brisket, carrot and broccoli.

I had no snacks after dinner but I was really thirsty and had 2 glasses of lemon squash and some water.

Todays menu: (so far)
B: 2 scrambled eggs cooked in butter with cheese on top

Well its only 9.01 am haha!!

I can feel the baby kicking a lot now, which is quite nice as its reassuring.

I am still so happy with our kitchen! Every night after work we have been cleaning away for a couple of hours and re arranging things. Tuesday night I spent about 2 hours cleaning the fridge while James cleaned the fish tank.
I was getting a bit stressed as couldnt get the shelves back in the fridge so did a crazy high pitched throat scream haha!! Hormones!!

My skin was pretty clear this morning – unsure if its the change in diet or what. I usually have a few red blotches but they weren’t there today yipee!
Yesterday my skin was driving me mad, it was itchy all over. My ankles have got a few mozzie bites so they were the worst part.
When I got home last night after cleaning etc, I noticed my ankles were really puffy, so I sat on sofa with them elevated.
Looking at them this morning, they were very swollen last night.
Comes with being overweight, pregnant and in the summer at the end of the day.
Hopefully I can rectify it a little by eating better.

I googled some recipes yesterday and came across a website called PaleOMG. It’s pretty funny and has some good recipes too.

SO thats all my news, a tad boring but at least you can all congratulate me for getting back on the good food wagon! (FINALLY!)

Have a good one ūüôā

kitchen

Morning!

The kitchen is FINally in! Yay!
It looks great! All we need now is a new floor, paint the walls and tile a bit, and there were three drawers missing which we will pick up at the weekend.
I got home yesterday and the carpenter had finally finished, so we spent hours cleaning everything and putting things away.
We both had massive smiles on our faces!
So, tonight I will give the fridge a good clean and finish arranging where things will go.

I made dinner (for once!) bacon and pepper(capsicum) frittata/omelette with cucumber and salad. Mmm it was good to have some real food. I won’t mention that I had a glass of coke with it…..

Today we are getting a McDonalds for lunch at work – and this really has to be my last bad meal. I planned for it, so I knew I was going to have it so I don’t feel too bad.
I have put on weight and I’m sure it’s not all baby.
As from tonight (after bad lunch) no more:
– No fizzy drinks
– No sugar
– No bread
– No treats….
Basically stop eating rubbish all the time. I will allow myself rice and potato once a week or something, and I’ll see how I get on.
My body is begging me for vegetables and nutrients so I am finally happy to oblige.
It is so hard to get out of a rut once you stop eating healthy – my biggest challenge was that we did not have a kitchen – but now NO MORE EXCUSES!!
And I am happy about that.

I went shopping on Saturday and bought a few ‘fat’ clothes. Kinda maternity clothes too I guess, like leggings and long tops. I did not like the look of my body from behind, my back is fat and my arms are gross. If I mention to anyone that I am fat, they say ‘you’re pregnant’. I just cannot agree – it is so not an excuse to become obese, and I know it’s not all baby – I have been greedy and lazy.

So I am hoping that this turn around will help me stabilise or even lose a little weight I don’t need. I also need to walk a LOT more as I am knackered just walking up the stairs. I need to strengthen my body a bit – otherwise I don’t know how I will get through labour.

Well, those are my moans, goals and aspirations!
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! I’ve been meaning to write for a few days and then don’t get round to it!

How is everyone? Well I hope.

I started keeping a food diary, and did very well for like a day. Not doing so well after that. Hmmm.
I am disappointing myself and the baby.

Update on the kitchen situation: We had the kitchen plastered last week, James has painted most of it a white coat to sink into the plaster and our kitchen is sitting there waiting to be installed.
It is being done this week and I am very excited!!!

I will be cooking very healthy once it’s all in. At the moment we don’t even have a sink, so trying to wash up in the bathroom sink is not easy. Only another week of hell and then all should be ok!

We havent been food shopping for over a week and don’t have much in, so had rice krispies for breakfast and then brought them with me for lunch too. I know it’s not the best – but I have to eat something!

Some good news: I had my scan on Thursday – the baby is doing very well and we found out the sex of the baby!!
It’s a ……………………BOY!!

Yipeee!! We are both very excited and can finally get some things together!

Once the kitchen is complete we can get the bedrooms ready for plastering, then it’s just a bit of decorating and carpets! Voila.

Well, I may have to go food shopping tonight and get some stuff, like eggs etc. The oven is still connected so I can still cook, its just a bit difficult.

This was our kitchen last week and the dining room full of the kitchen bits.

The after pics will be much better!

20 weeks….

Good Morning Tuesday!

How is everyone doing?

I’ve decided its high time I got back on the wagon and start eating right again. My main push was that the baby’s brain is developing now and needs lots of fats. That really got me thinking, I have to stop eating sugar and grains all the time.

We used to buy sugar free¬†soft drinks, but I don’t¬†like the sweeteners as it makes my face twitch so have been indulging in full sugar drinks lately – yikes! I’m surprised im not the size of a balloon! I said yesterday – no more fizzy drinks!

Last night I made a big salad, with bacon, mushrooms, tuna mayonnaise and spring onion, lettuce, cucumber and boiled potato.¬† I have the left overs for today. I also have carrot sticks and some yoghurt. No chocolate. ūüė¶ I have been eating chocolate every day and am really enjoying it, so I need to find a new ‘snack’. Damn I just remembered I have little boxes of raisins in the cupboard at home.

For breakfast I had 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese, that was 3 hours ago and I am still full.

So you remember I told you about how I wrote to Tesco (supermarket) to complain? Well I received a written apology and a £15 voucher. hee hee. About time too, they are constantly ripping me off.

I still feel like I don’t want to shop there all that often, as their meats etc are often not from the UK or even the EU, so who knows how bad the animals have been treated.

I haven’t weighed myself for a few days – I may do some healthy eating for a while lol then weigh myself to see if its gone down. (obvs am gonna weigh myself tomorrow morning lol)

It means a lot of preparation food wise, I need to get my low carb/dukan head back on.

I have my scan on Thursday and will find out what the baby is! So excited!!

James is getting excited too Рit makes me really happy when he says things like that. I can tell he already loves the baby so much.

I am exactly 20 weeks today, so half way through. About high time I got my eating back in order.

People have been saying ‘you’re not still on your stupid diet are you’ and I say no as I can’t be bothered to explain that actually it wasnt a stupid diet, but an amazing lifestyle change. Bastards.

Its going to hard for a while, I know that. Especially in the evening as I have been indulging in a Magnum ice cream almost every night – sob!! May have to get some grapes or something to substitute.

I need to stock up on meat, veg and eggs as we are pretty much low or out of everything.

Well, thats my news! Have a great day everyone! ūüôā

G’morning

Hello, good morning!

I didn’t realize I hadn’t written for so long. I have definately got baby brain at the moment.

I am feeling pretty good lately, no longer feeling nauseous all day, though I have started getting heartburn at night or when I eat certain things. I think this is probably due to my crappy diet. I eat ‘normal’ (if that’s what you can call it)

I’ve been having cereal for breakfast, a few rolls for lunch, and then whatever for dinner. Last night I was too tired so made tuna mayo rolls.

I’ve mentioned to James that we really need to start eating right again and he agrees. Tonight I may make a chilli, we have some mince etc. But I can already sense that I will put kidney beans in it and have rice too. Is that really so bad?

Thursday is our shopping day and we normally shop at Tesco. Lately, I have had it up to ‘here’ (hand above head) with them, every time we go there and purchase something on offer, they don’t give us the offer and I have to go and get a refund.

So I am no longer shopping there because I hate them.

Yup I am probably over reacting lol, but they piss me off so much! I have written them a stinking complaint letter asking for a generous goodwill gesture and an apology – we’ll see what I get back from them.

So, we went to Asda last week and it was ok. We weren’t big fans of that store before, but it seemed fine.

My weight is still rising Рwhich I guess is to be expected in pregnancy. But I really do not want to gain extra  weight or unneccessary weight.

I must try harder. I know that.

Last night on telly, they had a program on Channel 4 about diabetes and diets. A group of women went to this ‘clinic’ and had to do a 55 day diet to try to¬†reverse their type 2 diabetes. Half the group were on a 1600 kcal diet, made up of 40 % carbs, 30 % protein and 30 % fat. I couldn’t believe the high carb percentage and was shouting at the tv and shaking my¬† head! The other half were put on a liquid diet of shakes n soups.

After 2 months ( I think they spent maybe a week in the clinic together) they all came back and two of them had reversed their diabetes and all had lost at least 1 stone. Its pretty impressive (even with the bad advice lol) and just shows how important diet is to your health.

They said diabetes is going to be the biggest thing in the next decade and will be the cost of half of our NHS budget here in the UK.

So, I need someone to kick me up the butt and get me back in gear to eating well.

I am now 19 weeks and 2 days pregnant, and am waiting for my letter from the hospital about my 20 week scan. Hmmm¬†– it’s getting¬†a little close. I have rung them twice to chase it up in the last two weeks¬†– they said they are having technical¬†difficulties. It’s very¬†frustrating as I want to have my scan to check everythings still going ok and I cannot wait to find out the gender!!

Plus – I need some notice so I can book the time off from work, and James needs to book it off too.

I will call them again today.

Anyway, that’s my moans for now! Have a great day and give me some advice to start eating healthy again!!

W’ello!

Long time no see!

Hi there, I know I haven’t blogged for a while. I had a week off, we went to visit my parents in Boulogne and then I tried to stay out of James way while he did stuff around the house.

I no longer feel sick from my pregnancy, but am still struggling to eat well.

Cooking is kinda back on, but it’s mostly oven stuff and boiled tinned veggies. Not the greatest. I’m praying the kitchen will be in in 3 weeks max. Cannot wait!

on the weight front, I have put on a few pounds. Looking at my diary from a few months ago I have gained 9 lbs. Grrr. I know I am pregnant but hell – that’s a lot! I don’t really feel fatter except for my bump, but still!

I read the average weight gain in 30lbs, so if I only (only!!) put on 10lbs per trimester, then I’m on target. But the baby grows a lot – and quickly later, so I am going to have to be better on the eating front.

I haven’t done any exercise really, the other day I was in a rush and walked to town and back, man was it knackering!

Race For Life is this Sunday ( a charity 5km run/jog/walk) which I am participating in, but I will be walking it  now, not running. Mainly as I am taking as little asthma medication as possible and running will literally kill me plus with the pains I get just turning over in bed, running is NOT a good idea for me.

I bought some oat granola the other day which I have been enjoying, then I realised that the second ingredient is sugar. What a joke!!

Once I’ve finished it, I will buy some oats, raisins almonds etc and make my own. Way healthier!

My previous posts talked about how I got allergic reactions to peaches and nectarines, so I have bought some mandarins and apples. Yum! No reactions so far!

Last night in the UK there was a programme on BBC1¬†called Britain’s¬†favourite supermarket foods. It was very interesting as it was testing how we see food and what makes us eat more etc. The presenter did a test on biscuits, and found that we eat more when there is more choice and less if there is only say, 1 type of biscuit.¬† This is also why, even when stuffed on a main course you can still fit in pudding as your brain knows its¬†a different food so can manage to want it.

The presenter was also given a challenge with almonds. She was told that even though they are very high in fat, (yup, people are still afraid) that you can actually lose weight eating them. She was given enough for a month and was told to eat 3 portions a day, which equated to 500 kcals.  The presenter was quite scared as did not want to put on weight.  After the month, she had only gained 1lb, whereas you would expect to gain 4lbs if you counted the extra fat and calories.

It was very interesting anyway, I just wish people would do experiments to show that fat doesn’t¬†make you fat. I do believe¬†though, that low fat can help you lose weight, but if you eat right with high fat, you can also lose weight as you will be less hungry.

La la la la la – that’s my words of wisdom for the day!!

Back to pregnancy…… (yes its going to crop up a lot!) I should be getting my 20 week scan through the post soon and fingers crossed we will find out the¬†gender of the baby!! I am so excited! Then I can really¬†start shopping hee hee…..

So only 2.5 weeks and I will be half way through my pregnancy! How crazy is that!

I am really looking forward to not working for 9 months and if everything works out with my childcare plans, then I can return to work part time. I would rather not return for at least a year but financially it is not possible. ūüė¶

Oh well, life goes on! At least (at the moment) work are going to be flexible and let me return part time, 2 and a half days a¬†week.¬† One of my sisters and my mother in law are going to watch the baby 1 day each, and then I’ll either have to pay nursery fees for the half day, or see if his mum will do 1.5 days.

Hopefully everything will work out!

In the UK you get statutory maternity pay, which isn’t a whole lot, ¬£136 a week. It defo better than nothing though! I know in some countries you get nothing. But it would be nice for my multi million pound company to give me a little pay after working there for 6 years AND I’ll be going back after.

So, that’s my news and moans for the day!! Have a great one!

We are having a heat wave so its pretty hot here YAY!!!! ūüôā

summer!

July 3, 2013 Leave a comment

Hello everyone!

So, I had my last exam yesterday – yay college is over for the summer.

Finally get my evenings aaaaall to myself! Poor James has lost his freedom evenings though haha!!

Results will be in in about 6 weeks time, fingers crossed!

Only 3 more days of work then I have a week off. Yipee! We are going to France to visit my parents for a couple of days and then hopefully getting the kitchen closer to being completed.

I have been looking up my inhalers and also my new nasal spray in regards to taking when pregnant.

There is so much conflicting information out there, and all the doctors say is ‘ its riskier to not take your medication that to take it’ when they havent even looked into my personal history or ANYTHING.

Well, a few weeks ago I stopped taking my inhaler, but after 5 days I was struggling a little. I take symbicort, my previous dosage was 2 times in the morning and 2 times at night. Now I only take it once at night. I didn’t¬†take it last night though as I read some disturbing things online, but know I will either need to take it soon, or take a¬†few puffs of Ventolin every day.

As for the nasal spray I was prescribed last week, its called Avamys¬†and it does say not to take when pregnant¬†unless directed by your doctor. The thing¬†is, the doctor just looked up on his computer about nasal sprays and it said ‘nasal sprays are fine to take whilst pregnant’. But that isn’t enough for me. I’ve stopped taking that too, only to be used when my hayfever is so bad that I cannot stand it.

I wish I didn’t have to take anything. I watched a programme a few nights ago about women who took epilepsy tablets whilst pregnant and their children have been born with learning difficulties and other problems. What a nightmare.

I will just have to monitor myself and take as little as I can without suffering (with the asthma – I will suffer as much as I can with the hayfever)

So that’s my rantings this week.

I have eaten a little salad lately, but have mainly been surviving on coco pops. I know its bad…..Its just so easy for breakfast and dinner when I had college. I will make more of an effort with vegetables now.

My weight is crappy too I have put on a few pounds. If I try to be good now, hopefully¬† I¬†won’t put on much more un necessary weight.

Well, I’d best get back to work! have a great day everyone!! ūüôā
