‘ello

Hi, hello.

I made some cauliflower ‘rice’ the other night, it was brilliant! I put an egg in there too and make egg fried ‘rice’ in coconut oil. Amazing!

Even James ate it and he hates cauliflower.

We bought a ‘tefal fresh express’ which slices and grates stuff! Love it!

At the moment I’m thinking about going low carb and leaving dukan and oat bran behind. I need to read a bit more into it and get my head around the ‘you don’t need carbs’ thinking.  Even though I know you don’t need them or that much of them, it’s been drilled in for a long time that you do.

Stupid government and food RDA’s.

My weight had gone up a bit more this morning bah humbug!

For breakfast I had: oat bran porridge & some low fat yog.

Lunch: ham and cheese omelette, a bit of cheese.

Snacks: some sausage and a bit of fat free vanilla yoghurt. (incidentally has 18.1g sugar from the 18.9g carbs per 150g – aarghhh!) I looked online at their natural yoghurt, this only has 6g of sugar per 150g serving. It’s insane that we have been brainwashed about fat.

Anyway…..this morning I saw a rainbow, it was lovely. The sky had a vintage look to it, a pinky grey and looked like it would snow. It did then snow for a couple of hours but it didn’t lay and it rained after.

Freezing!!! I am layered up though with a vest, work issue t -shirt, long sleeve top and work issue fleece. Brrr. (Obvs not walking around half naked, also have a skirt and tights and shoes on. And knickers. And bra – incase you wondered)

Some people walk around the office with just their t-shirt (as above not just a t-shirt haha) I don’t know how they do it!

I wonder if eating more fat will make me warmer. I’m always cold though so we’ll see.

I must comment that my eczema has barely flared up at all this season. Usually my face would be very red and blotchy but I only have a little bit of redness.  I haven’t been very ill either, normally I had a cold once a month. Seriously. I woke up in the night (last night) sneezing and had to blow my nose a few times and thought I would wake up all bunged up and ill, but alas I am fine! Yippee!!

I feel like dukan does work, but maybe once you discover a cleaner low carbier way of eating, it doesn’t work so well. Or maybe I cheat so much it doesn’t work so well….

So, I will do my paleo low carb investigation and let you know what I’m up to!

I’m disappointed that after forfeiting two weekends of not drinking, I didn’t lose any weight and actually put on a few pounds ( thanks to chocolate, peanuts and home made friggin mince pies – all my own fault) but I’m going to Paris on Friday so I really can’t complain.

Yay!! have a good one!

Not to take anything away from Dukan, but you sound so much like me in your posts. If you find yourself cheating every day, be it extra dairy, veg on a PP day, or chocolate and wine, then you are not following the plan and it will not work. I knew that, but I kept trying to make myself follow the plan. I saw how much it worked for others and wanted their results, but guess what? I am not any of them and strict Dukan was perfect to get me kick-started and open my eyes to some truths about foods and how and why I eat. I finally woke up and realized sometimes listening to your body is important- maybe not when it is saying- have another glass of wine!- but if you are unable to stop cheating, your body may be sending a message. I am on this journey for health and a REAL lifestyle change. It took me a while to realize that I am not a failure if I adjust my nutrition to what my body needs, especially if it means I continue on my weight loss journey while feeling well, decreasing or eliminating cravings, and make the adjustments lifestyle changes, and not dieting. Good luck on your journey; I really enjoy your posts.

Thanks for the comment. I hope I can start a low carb lifestyle soon, I have a bit more reading to do and I need to buy some flaxseed. I didnt drink for nearly 3 weeks now and didnt lose weight which was a pain, but at least i didnt see the 4-5 lbs gain I would usually get on a Monday from it. Ahh well, Paris tomorrow – lots of hard food choices coming up, but I dont want to obsess about food.

I think we all sound pretty similar! Lol.
Back in July / August (9 / 10 months into Dukan for me) I started struggling, not so much with the fact my losses were slowing down but you know when something just doesn’t feel right?!?! It’s taken me until now to figure a right way for me. It takes a lot of research to make a right choice, but whilst I think Dukan is fantastic, it’s a low fat diet, and a low fat diet, especially for women over any period of time isn’t good. All my cravings started up again and it makes sticking to Dukan really hard. You go off plan, feel awful, and the more you do it the harder it is to get back on track. You think you are craving junk but really your body is craving healthy fats. The Dukan diet was so great for me but it wasn’t working, I found this quite difficult to accept.
Paleo / low carb / primal / wheat belly – they are all very similar really. A few little differences of opinions but on the whole the concept is the same – real whole foods.
I hope you can find something that works for you Shannon. We’re all here for you if you need anything xoxo.
